iPad dismantled 4 times
First there was the iPad teardown from iFixit which is not recommended for mere mortals!
Then there was a low tech version – iPad smashed with Baseball bat
Then came Will it Blend and…. well yes the iPad will blend. (Viewer caution it’s not pretty if your still waiting for your iPad)
Finally we have an approximate costing from iSuppli for the hardware alone.
A $499 iPad breaks-down something like this:
• Touchscreen – $95
• Apple A4 CPU – $26.80
• 16GB flash storage – $29.50
• Aluminum rear panel – $26.80
• Broadcom Bluetooth, WiFi chip – $8.05
• TI controller chip – $1.80
• Ciruss Logic audio chip – $1.20
Need to add Research and Design costs, marketing, packaging etc etc.
