BBC iPlayer Beta now on iPad

When I first got my iPad the BBC iPlayer didn’t work unless you used Atomic Web Browser and disgusied your iPad as an iPhone in the browser settings.
Thankfully the BBC have now released the new iPlayer Beta website which is iPad compatible.

The new look is what the BBC calls ‘simplified’ making content ‘even easier to find’ to me it’s compact and functional, I prefer the full website version which Im sure the iPad could handle, but it seems the interface has been changed to fit in with the lowest common hardware platform design. (Im thinking of the new slate devices from Dell and other manufacturers)

The quality is great on your iPad once you’ve made your selection, the streaming is very smooth. Makes your licence fee a little easier to swallow!

Since last Friday iPlayer worked well on my iPad. Today – 1st June – it is not working at all. Just get ‘film not available’ even for programmes I have viewed before. What is going on?
I just checked iPlayer and it seems to work fine, just selected 2 programs at random. Top Gear and Money both worked fine…. maybe the thing your trying to view has expired it’s time limit??
How did you set up the settings to fake it out to ge an iPhone?
Thanks
Hi Cheryl, take a look at Atomic Web Browser, it’s iPad/iPhone compatible and lets you spoof the browser in the settings… It’s also a great browser, for me better than safari.
